The Market Decides. We Build the Market.

Every result on this page came from the same process: a well-cataloged collection, marketed to a national audience of serious buyers, sold through a competitive auction where collectors set the price — not a dealer's margin calculation.

When a gun shop or online buyer makes an offer, they're buying wholesale. They need room to make a profit on resale. When collectors bid against each other at auction, they're paying what they genuinely believe the piece is worth. That difference is why auction results consistently exceed dealer offers on quality collections.

These are not cherry-picked outliers. They are representative results from auctions conducted in Indiana since fall 2024 — across handguns, rifles, shotguns, antiques, military collectibles, optics, and sporting accessories.

If you have a collection to sell, these results are the most honest answer we can give you to the question: what will it bring?

The Burgess difference
"A national retailer offered $900 for a pair of Indiana Sesquicentennial Colts. The same pair sold at our auction for $3,100. That's the difference between a buyer and a market."
Zack Burgess — Second-generation Indiana auctioneer. CAI designated. FFL licensed. Serving Indiana since 1996.

Questions About Auction Results

What people ask when they see these numbers for the first time.

Will my collection bring results like these?

+
Results depend on what you have — make, model, condition, provenance, and documentation all affect realized prices. The lots featured here represent quality pieces that were well-documented and marketed to the right audience. Not every lot brings $1,000 or more — but collections with original boxes, matching numbers, or historical significance consistently outperform dealer offers. Call us and we'll give you an honest assessment of what your collection is likely to bring.

Why do auction results beat dealer offers?

+
A dealer making an offer needs room to make a profit on resale. Their offer reflects wholesale — what works for their business model. At auction, collectors who genuinely want a specific piece compete against each other. That competition drives prices to what the market actually considers the piece to be worth. The Indiana Sesquicentennial Colts on this page are the clearest example — a national retailer offered $900. The same pair sold at Burgess auction for $3,100.

How much does it cost to consign?

+
There is no upfront cost to consign. We earn a selling commission from the auction proceeds. We only get paid when you get paid — and we get paid more when your collection brings more. That structure aligns our interests directly with yours. We'll explain the commission structure clearly during your free consultation.

How often do you hold firearms auctions?

+
We currently hold four specialty firearms auctions per year, growing toward monthly as our consignor base expands. Our next auction is July 11th. If you have a collection ready to consign, call us now — the earlier you consign, the more time we have to photograph, catalog, and market your pieces to our national buyer network.

Do you handle collections outside Indiana?

+
Yes. We regularly receive consignments from out-of-state dealers and collectors who want access to our national buyer network. All transfers are FFL-to-FFL compliant. If you have a collection outside Indiana, call us and we'll walk you through the process.
