The Phyllis Kingen Barn & Basement Auction included a range of farm-related items connected to the family’s agricultural history. Among them was a vintage Farmers Hybrid Seed Corn Company cloth seed sack from Hampton, Iowa.
It could have been dismissed as an old feed sack. Instead, it was photographed, cataloged, and promoted to agricultural advertising collectors. Competitive bidding pushed the final sale price to more than $200.
That result does not mean every old seed sack carries the same value. It shows why it is worth reviewing estate items before they are donated or thrown away.

During the 2020 Charlotte Shull Estate Auction on Fortville Pike near Greenfield, Burgess Auctions used an online-only auction format during a period when traditional live sales were not possible.
A 2004 Chevrolet 2500 HD 4x4 pickup with just 26,827 original miles drew considerable attention from buyers outside Hancock County. The sale reinforced an important point: an online auction can expand the audience for quality assets and bring more bidders into the process.
