We are problem solvers for people's stuff.

Most people who call us don't know where to start. There's a house full of belongings. A business to close. An estate to settle. Assets scattered across rooms, buildings, and paperwork — and no clear path forward.

That's where we come in.

Burgess Auctions provides complete estate liquidation, estate auctions with real estate, FFL-licensed firearms consignment, and business asset liquidation throughout Central Indiana — including Indianapolis, Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville, Hamilton County, Madison County, Hancock County, and Henry County. Many of our clients are selling both the home and the contents, and we coordinate one auction strategy for both.

We assess the situation. Build the plan. Sell what should be sold. Donate what should be donated. Remove what needs to go. Close the real estate when there's real estate to close.

You hand us the problem. We hand you the solution. No upfront cost. One call. One team.

Sell Your Estate, Real Estate, Firearms, or Collections at Auction in Central Indiana

Most estates aren't simple. Neither is our approach.

Depending on the assets, we may recommend a high-value harvest first — firearms, coins, jewelry, vehicles, antiques, and commercial assets pulled for specialized marketing and maximum return. Then an online auction for remaining personal property. Donation of clothing, food, and household goods. And once the contents are cleared, a real estate auction to close the property on a defined timeline with competitive bidding.

Every estate is different. We assess what you have, recommend the right sequence, and execute it from start to finish — one team, one agreement, one point of contact.

You don't have to figure out what goes where. That's our job.

The Questions We Hear Before Every First Call

"Will I get a fair price?"

Competitive bidding drives prices up — not down. When multiple qualified buyers compete for the same item, you capture true market value. We market to targeted audiences who want exactly what you're selling. See real auction results.

"Is this too complicated for my situation?"

Our job is to make this simple for you. We handle staging, photography, marketing, bidder management, and settlement. Out-of-state executors and first-time sellers work with us every week.

"Why auction vs. a realtor or estate sale company?"

We work alongside realtors, not against them. Our real estate auction approach creates urgency and competition traditional listings can't match. And unlike most estate sale companies, we're a licensed Indiana auctioneer and have been serving Indiana sellers since 1996.

Common Questions from Sellers

What are the fees to sell an estate at auction in Indiana?

There is no upfront cost. We only earn commission when your items sell. Commission rates vary by asset type, volume, and format — we provide a clear quote during your free consultation before you commit to anything. Firearms have a published rate: $15 per gun plus 10% of the hammer price, and 25% on ammunition and accessories. See firearms consignment details.

Can you handle mixed assets — real estate, personal property, and firearms?

Yes. We specialize in complex estates. Our FFL license and real estate partnership allow us to coordinate real estate, personal property, and firearms together — all under one roof, across Hamilton, Marion, Hancock, Madison, and Henry counties and beyond.

Does an executor need to be present at an Indiana estate auction?

No. Many of our sellers are out-of-state. We manage everything and keep you updated throughout the process.

How long does it take to set up an estate auction in Indiana?

Most estate auctions run 3–6 weeks from signed agreement to auction day. Time-sensitive situations can often be expedited — contact us to discuss your timeline.

How does a simulcast auction work for Indiana estate sales?

Our simulcast auctions run live bidding through BidBurgess.com simultaneously with in-room bidding — online and in-room buyers compete in real time on equal footing. For fully online timed auctions, bidding remains open for a set window and closes in lot sequence. Both formats maximize your buyer pool and competitive pressure.

Do I need an appraisal before I consign?

For most consignments, no — we give you a realistic expectation of auction results. If the assets are part of a probate estate, trust, divorce, or insurance matter, a certified appraisal may be required. Learn about personal property appraisals.

Where can I find a licensed auctioneer in Central Indiana for estate and firearms sales?

Burgess Auctions LLC holds Indiana Auctioneer License AU19600029 and serves all of Central Indiana from our Knightstown base, with our secondary FFL-licensed facility in Carthage, Indiana. We regularly provide services in Hamilton, Marion, Hancock, Madison, and Henry counties — and throughout Indiana. More about Burgess Auctions.

I'm a broker. How does a referral partnership work?
